Timeline
56 years is a long time. That's quite a lot of time. Here are our highlights from 1963 to today.

A Timeline of Spanabhebenden Präzisionswerkzeuge GmbH

2019
Relaunch of the Website

After more than a year of preparation the new website sppw.de launched. The new responsive design and easier maintenance make sppw.de to our new communication platform. As part of the project, data management was simplified and combined into one PIM system for print and web.

2018
FIRST TRAINING SERIES

The first series of seminars with the topic "Machining of fibre plastics" was launched. The seminar series consists of 3 parts and a practical part and is designed as a 2-day event.

2017
NEW BUILDING INAUGURATED

On 27 May, the new building will be officially inaugurated as part of an "Open House". In addition to 2 new office floors, we now have 130 sqm of training and conference space, as well as a test centre.

2016
INTRODUCTION OF THE LIFT SYSTEM

The plans for our extension are ready and the construction work begins. The modernization of the logistics is progressing. Our warehousing becomes chaotic and a lift system takes over the administration.

2015
PLANNING OF THE NEW BUILDING

The volume of orders is growing, and in order to cope with this, logistics must be modernized - a new building with the appropriate room height must be erected.

2011
MORE DEBURRING TOOLS

Structure of our product line for deburring. With BiFace, workpieces can now be deburred on the front and back - from a diameter of 1mm.

2008
COOPERATION WITH SMICUT

In order to focus on niche tools that require explanation, Spanabhebende starts a close cooperation with the manufacturer of thread milling cutters Smicut in Sweden.

2007
multi-form micro-tools

Spanabhebende launches the Multi-Form Micro-Tools concept and offers micro tools - drills, reamers, milling cutters - for high-precision complete machining.

2005
CHANGE OF MANAGEMENT

Rüdiger Meineke retires from the management. Spanabhebende is now a family business in its second generation.

2004
SUB-MICRO MILLING CUTTER

Our sub-micro milling cutters go to the start. These cutters have a diameter of 0.005 mm (50µm) and are therefore thinner than a human hair. The smallest standard milling cutter at that time.

2002
Rapid-line

There is movement in the world of materials. More and more plastics and fibre plastics are being processed. SPPW takes this development into account with its Rapid-Line range and offers cutters with polished flute for plastics and light alloys as well as cutters with pyramid-shaped toothing for GRP and carbon underneath.

1999
MICROMACHINING

Our catalogue on micromachining is published. In addition to micro cutters from 0.1 mm diameter, it also includes our Multi-V multi-function tools.

1998
EXPANSION OF THE EXECUTIVE BOARD

Oliver Meineke is appointed second managing director. He takes over the areas of finance and human resources.

1996
website

SPPW starts its beginnings on the Internet at sppw.de. At that time the website already contained data sheets on all 400 products - all still programmed in html.

1995
2ND GENERATION

After his studies Oliver Meineke joins Spanabhebende.

1993
SMALLER DIAMETERS

The VHM milling cutter range is consistently extended by smaller diameters from 0.3 mm upwards.

1990
FIRST VHM TOOLS

The triumphal march of carbide continues - the first VHM tools are added to the range by Spanabhebende.

1989
PRODUCT DIVERSITY

In the new premises there is now again enough space to bring new products to the market. Spanabhebende starts selling 1/100 reamers. More than 1000 new products are stored.

1988
ENLARGEMENT

The company is growing and the premises in Reiskirchen have become too small. The new building in Lich on Gottlieb-Daimler Strasse is built. We are now located in the heart of nature.

1983
THE DECAY OF THE PARENT COMPANY

The parent company disintegrates. COGEFOM is disbanded due to financial difficulties. Rüdiger Meineke acquires the German subsidiary as part of a management buy-out. Precision cutting tools are continued as a family business.

1982
HSS-E SMALL MILLING CUTTER

The chip-remover picks up the smallest milling cutter from the program. We start with a diameter of 0.3 mm and are thus far ahead of time - at that time still from HSS-E.

1978
NC - products

We are expanding our wide range of centring drills to include NC drills, particularly powerful centring tools for the increasingly popular NC machines.

1976
EXTENSION

Consolidation and further expansion of business. Expansion of the product range to include the Magafor and Perfor brands.

1975
MOVE TO HESSEN

The registered office of the company is relocated to picturesque Central Hessen. From now on the tools come from Reiskirchen.

1973
NEW MANAGEMENT

After a stay of several years in France, Rüdiger Meineke joins the management.

1963
FOUNDATION OF SPPW

On 29.07.1963 "Spanabhebende Präzisionswerkzeuge GmbH" is founded by the French tool group MECANO as a German subsidiary. The company is based in Cologne. From today's point of view, the bulky company name is a literal translation of the business object "outils coupants de precision" from French.
